Insurance & Fees
Clear details, before we begin.
Knowing what to expect is part of feeling comfortable in the process. Current standard rates and practice policies are outlined below.
Standard rates
Private-pay sessions
Longer sessions and paperwork are billed proportionally in 15-minute increments. A limited number of reduced-fee spaces may be available and can be discussed during consultation.

Out-of-Network Reimbursement
My practice does not bill insurance directly. Many clients receive partial reimbursement through their out-of-network mental health benefits. On request, I will provide a superbill that you can submit to your insurance company.
Coverage varies by plan. I recommend calling your insurer to ask about your out-of-network benefits before beginning therapy. You are responsible for the session fee, and reimbursement is determined by your plan.

How to Check Your Benefits
Call the Member Services number on the back of your insurance card. You can explain that you are considering private-pay psychotherapy with an out-of-network Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in California, then ask:
- Does my plan include out-of-network benefits for outpatient mental health or behavioral health services?
- Do I have an individual out-of-network deductible? What is the total deductible, and how much remains?
- After I meet the deductible, what percentage does my plan reimburse?
- What is my plan’s allowed amount for the psychotherapy service I will receive?
- Are telehealth sessions covered under my out-of-network benefits?
- Is prior authorization, pre-certification, or a referral required?
- Are there limits on the number of sessions covered each year?
- How do I submit a superbill or an out-of-network claim?
- What is the deadline for submitting claims?
- Will reimbursement be sent directly to me?
Keep a record of the answers and any call reference number. If your insurer needs details about the planned service, contact me before submitting a claim.
Common questions
What to know
Do you accept insurance?
The practice is private pay and does not bill insurance directly. Payment is accepted through digital payment methods. Ask during consultation if you need documentation for possible out-of-network reimbursement.
What is the cancellation policy?
A card is kept on file. Sessions cancelled or rescheduled with less than 24 hours' notice, and missed appointments, are charged the full session fee except in therapist-approved emergencies.
How is my privacy protected?
Clinical records are kept confidential and are released only with your authorization or when disclosure is required by law. Please avoid including sensitive clinical details in the consultation form.
What happens during a consultation?
The brief consultation is a chance to share what you are looking for, ask practical questions, and consider whether the practice is a good fit. Current consultation terms will be confirmed when you reach out.
