Mindfulness-Based CBT
Notice the pattern, then make space for a more helpful response.
A closer look
Mindfulness-based cognitive behavioral work combines attention to thoughts and actions with present-moment awareness. We look at how interpretations, emotions, and behavior influence one another, while practicing ways to notice your experience with less judgment. The aim is greater choice in how you respond to a difficult moment.
Small practices, connected to your actual life.
We might work through a recent situation, examine the meaning you gave it, and consider another way to respond. Mindfulness can help you notice the thought before becoming fully caught up in it.
Practice can be brief: noticing your feet on the ground, attending to a routine activity, or pausing before a difficult conversation. We adapt exercises to your comfort; mindfulness does not require you to empty your mind or force relaxation.
I integrate these methods into individualized therapy, including work around anxiety, low mood, and cultural or workplace stress. This is tailored therapy, rather than a fixed-length Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy course.
