Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)

Understand your emotions and practice a different response.

A closer look

DBT holds two ideas together: your experience makes sense, and change is possible. Its skills address awareness, getting through distress, understanding emotions, and navigating relationships. These tools can be helpful when feelings become intense or interactions move quickly from connection to conflict.

Bring skills into the moments that matter.

I integrate DBT-informed approaches into individualized therapy. We can examine a recent difficult interaction, identify where emotions escalated, and practice a skill you can try in a similar situation.

Skills are adapted to your goals and circumstances. A boundary, for example, needs to account for your relationships and cultural values rather than follow a one-size-fits-all script.

Comprehensive DBT is a structured program with multiple components. DBT-informed individual or family sessions do not by themselves constitute that program. If you are seeking comprehensive DBT or a specialized trauma protocol, contact me to discuss fit, availability, and referral options.
